Highlights

Problem
  • Fast-growing startup needed rapid feature delivery to outpace competitors while lacking capacity for formal frameworks, requiring quick wins that balanced growth with scalable processes.

Action
  • Streamlined async cross-team communication, enabling alignment across C-level, sales, marketing, customer support, and finance.

  • Reshaped engineering workflows by introducing a risk repository, ad-hoc security triaging, and pioneering technical support procedures, developer deployment and release guidelines across engineering and support teams.

  • Scaled adoption of an in-house BI system, giving leadership real-time visibility into MRR, churn, and product performance.

  • Elevated customer confidence and reinforced enterprise credibility by improving security posture and compliance maturity.

  • The revenue growth, subscription expansion, and data visibility achieved through these initiatives were significant factors in positioning eversign for acquisition by Apryse.

Problem
  • Missed opportunities and slowed revenue growth due to lack of enterprise-grade integrations and inability to quickly adapt to customer requirements.

Action
  • Architected an event-driven framework enabling reusable vertical and horizontal integrations.

  • Designed a single integration platform addressing needs of SMEs through to large enterprise customers.

  • Built and managed a new cross-functional integration team. Interviewed 30+ candidates, hired and mentored 3 engineers, and developed one into a promoted successor team lead.

  • Collaborated closely with C-level executives, sales and marketing to align the integration strategy with business growth goals.

Impact
  • Delivered 20+ enterprise-grade integrations, equipping sales with the technical foundation to close deals and expand our product with several thousands of new enterprise licenses.

Action
  • Directed cross-functional technical due diligence, aligning with executive priorities, uncovering interoperability risks, and taking ownership of defining the unified target architecture.

  • Spearheaded the introduction of new authentication methods through a unified identity provider, unblocking the company’s strategic mobile app initiative and aligning with product leadership goals.

  • Owned the standardization and strengthening of identity security, unifying authentication policies across products, improving account retention, and reporting progress directly into compliance and leadership structures.

Impact
  • Unified identity across 2 acquired product lines and their web and mobile engineering teams. Enabled the entire customer base to seamlessly access multiple products with a unified identity, opening new revenue streams through product bundling and upsell pathways.

  • Supported mobile teams in a new mobile application launch, creating additional acquisition funnels and expanding market reach.

  • Brought forward milestones for SOC 2 Type I and II certification, elevating customer confidence and enabling enterprise onboarding.

  • Embedded compliance-by-design into identity and data policies, reducing regulatory risk exposure and simplifying operational processes.

  • Codified best practices into an organizational playbook for future identity integrations in acquisitions.

Problem
  • Government ministries and citizens lacked secure, scalable certificate services, limiting adoption of eGovernment initiatives and reducing trust in digital infrastructure.

Action
  • Orchestrated vendors and in-house development team to deliver a government-wide certificate authority service for issuing qualified electronic certificates.

  • Provided technical revision across 5–10 ICT projects annually for other ministries, advising on architecture, procurement, and risk management.

  • Participated in inter-ministerial working groups to introduce new processes for security, auditing, and compliance.

Impact
  • Successfully launched a government-recognized certificate authority service, pioneering the use of qualified digital signatures across ministries.

  • Raised audit readiness and institutionalized security standards across government IT projects, reinforcing national digital trust.

  • Increased success rates of cross-ministry ICT projects through independent technical revision and risk assessment.

  • Gained early leadership experience by coordinating vendors, development teams, and government stakeholders in complex multi-party initiatives.

About Me

Milan Latinovic profile picture

I am a Principal-track Engineer and Technology Leader with 15+ years of experience designing and scaling SaaS and enterprise systems. I specialize in building software that balances resilience, security, and cost efficiency, while aligning engineering with business growth.

My career began in digital government services where I guided engineering and support teams through modernization and security initiatives, which was my early foundation in leadership, cross-department collaboration, and public-sector digital transformation.

At TimeTac, I built and grew the integration team and framework that powered 20+ enterprise integrations enabling sales teams to sell thousands of licences to enterprise customers. I also shaped requirements engineering, and developed both pre- and post-sales expertise. This experience made me deeply product- and outcome-oriented.

I then joined apilayer, collaborating closely with founders Paul and Julian Zehetmayr. There I contributed across eversign, Invoicely, and ZeroSSL, gaining hands-on experience with full ownership, rapid iteration, and high-stakes trade-offs. My primary focus was eversign, where our team’s work culminated in a successful exit and acquisition by Apryse. At eversign, I also partnered with executives to shape BI systems and ensure data-driven decision making.

Today, as part of the core team at Xodo Sign (formerly eversign, now part of Apryse’s Xodo product suite), I focus on scaleup-to-enterprise challenges: asynchronous collaboration across time zones, multi-level technical management, and aligning cross-product dependencies and risks. I have delivered large-scale migrations, created frameworks that save hundreds of engineering hours per month, and shipped features such as Device Verification, Document Signer MFA, Fraud Protection Service, Automated Bulk Sending and Xodo One Identity Management Platform.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor in Software Engineering and a Master’s in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Banja Luka. My side research on automation in software engineering and authorization management has been published at IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communication, Rethinking Authorization Management of Web-APIs and HICSS, Automation and Artificial Intelligence in Software Engineering: Experiences, Challenges, and Opportunities, bridging practical engineering with academic contribution.

Beyond technology, I thrive on guiding teams, shaping strategy, and enabling growth at scale. I am also a husband and father, drawing patience and perspective from family life.

What Others Say

Paul Zehetmayr
Paul Zehetmayr
Co-Founder & CEO of everign GmbH at time, also Co-Founder & CEO at LimeWire, ZeroSSL, invoicely, APILayer, Advisory Board at eversign, APILayer

"Milan has been in charge of not only actively developing solutions and designing core features and functionalities directly in the eversign platform, but also of scouting for, coordinating and executing projects related to external services and platforms to be connected and integrated with eversign. Given the nature of our business, external integrations form a core element of eversign’s product offering and constitute a major element of eversign’s convenience and effectiveness as a service.

I have personally had the pleasure of working with Milan directly on countless occasions and was regularly impressed by his breadth of knowledge, attention to detail and sheer skill in the work he does, all the while producing a relaxed and constructive atmosphere around him. It also did not escape me that co-workers frequently appreciated Milan’s team spirit and willingness to share his experience and pass on his learnings to others."

CTO of eversign GmbH at time, also Head of Technology at LimeWire, Cloud Architecture Consultant

"Milan is a one-man department all by himself.

We worked together for 3 years at eversign, delivering several different projects of varying complexity. What stood out most to me was Milan's ability to take an idea and loose requirements, and deliver a polished, production-ready feature. He wrote specifications by identifying relevant stake holders and audiences, communicating with them and balancing technical and social aspects. He architected, implemented and tested features, either alone or in a team. He defined rollout plans, delivered the feature to customers, and kept monitoring relevant KPIs and delivering fixes until the feature fulfilled success metrics. He didn't tolerate bugs, or slow or wasteful code.

He also made sure never to neglect our Slack workspace's meme channel 😉.

It's hard to imagine Milan not being a top asset to any team. He has my warmest recommendation!"
